MagicCon 3 | Workshop | Die Dothraki und ihre Sprache

  • Who are the Dothraki?
  • How is your language structured?
  • How do I greet a Khal or Khalessi correctly?
  • And why is there no word of thanks to the Dothraki?

Dothraki is a language invented especially for the successful series Game of Thrones. The name of the Dothraki people and their language is derived from a verb that means “ride”, since horses and horseback riding had a very high status with the Dothraki. The workshop at MagicCon 3 informs about the culture of the Dothraki and their language, who speaks them in the series, who invented them and how they are constructed. The most important expressions for greeting and saying goodbye, everyday life and of course the struggle are introduced and the debate explained. If you want, you can repeat and practice what you have learned. All participants will receive language documents to read during the workshop and to look up at home.

Marion Müller is 42 years old, married and has one son. She is one half of the "German Superfans" of Game of Thrones. With her husband she has already visited the studio sets in Belfast and the outdoor sets in Northern Ireland, including the Dothraki, and was also seen as an expert at the "Throne Talks" of Sky Germany.

She has always been enthusiastic about languages (in addition to German, she speaks fluent French and English and, through professional stays in South America, Spanish). She has already met some actors who speak Dothraki in the series, and this has inspired her to engage herself with the culture and language of the Dothraki.
