Who doesn’t know this? The costume fits, the pose is perfect, the facial expression is 100% and the lighting shines as if a team of 28 people was at work. Unfortunately, the photo is from the foyer of the con and 87% of all visitors are cavorting in the background.

It doesn’t have to stay that way. Mist free software, a few tricks and patience, the perfect background is inserted.

In the workshop I introduce GIMP, and demonstrate how you can achieve with simple means, decent results. Only a few tools are needed: Layers, eraser, scaling, maybe effects.

After a short introduction, we will work on the pictures you brought along and I will provide assistance and answer questions. No one will be finished in that time. Sorry.

Mel Grebing is in her 40s, works full time in human resources and is an avid amateur cosplayer. Since 2019 sier wears self-made costumes. Since most of the pictures are taken at conventions and the moving backgrounds annoy Mel, sier spices up the photos with image editing. Taught Mel the basics to make covers for fanfics, cosplay images chic is much easier.
