MagicCon 7 | Workshop | Fantastische Welten entwickeln

Robert Corvus creates fantastic worlds in his workshop.

  • What is the price of magic?
  • How big is a hyperspace drive?
  • Is a winch crossbow the pride of weaponsmithing?
  • Is a forty-year-old considered an old man, or do you only become an adult at 111?
  • Magnificent cities, disreputable planets, rugged mountains, mighty rivers, amphibious peoples, magical elves, sorcery and plasma cannons – how can you give shape to all this and make it into a whole that carries an exciting story?

In his workshop, Robert Corvus gives an insight into the basics of world-building, the discipline that makes fantasy and science fiction what they are: fantastic.

Robert Corvus is one of the most successful fantasy authors in the German-speaking world. His novels are published by Piper. He also published Die Phileasson-Saga with Bernhard Hennen at Heyne, writes for Perry Rhodan and has contributed novels to the background of The Dark Eye and BattleTech. With Robert Corvus, we welcome one of Germany's most successful fantasy authors to MagicCon. Titles such as Schattenkult, Gezeiten der Macht and Die Schwertfeuer-Saga are among his successes. He also writes for the biggest science fiction series in the world: Perry Rhodan. Together with Bernhard Hennen, Robert adapted one of the basic adventure campaigns of the role-playing game The Black Eye, Die Phileasson-Saga, as a twelve-part series of novels. His current project is the series Die Vagabunden (The Vagabonds), which is published in magazines.

Robert has been a full-time writer since 2013. Before that, writing was a hobby and sideline for 25 years. During this time, novels were published under his pseudonym Bernard Craw in the BattleTech and The Dark Eye universes.

Robert was a soldier, management consultant and project manager in international corporations. He has backpacked around the world, made a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and taught karate. After working in Münster and Sindelfingen, he now lives in Cologne.
