My sofa is an Armor

MagicCon 6 | Vortrag | Mein Sofa ist eine Rüstung | Jury Schütte

The lecture My Sofa is an Armor on creating costumes from recycled materials is a great way for beginners to get inspired and learn how to create stunning costumes with little effort and cost. The lecture will show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to create costumes, you can also use items you have at home to create amazing and creative costumes.

One of the most important messages of the talk is that if you are a beginner, don’t get discouraged, just give it a try. With a little creativity and experimentation, amazing costumes can be created without needing much experience or special skills.

One example that can be shown in the lecture is how to create armor from an old sofa with faux leather. By cutting, gluing and shaping the faux leather, you can create an impressive suit of armor that is perfect for a fantasy costume or cosplay event.

Another example that can be covered in the lecture is creating a dragon head from a foam mattress. With a little cutting and gluing, you can create an impressive mask from a simple foam mattress that is perfect for Halloween parties or cosplay events.

Lecturer: Jury Schütte
Duration: 60 min  -  The Lecture will be held in: german
Jury (non-binary., 40) and Kerstin (young in years in spirit) are two cosplayer siblings who want to explore their creativity and passion for fantasy costumes without breaking their budget. When they became interested in cosplay, they quickly discovered that it can be difficult to find information and instructions that don't involve expensive tools and materials.

But that didn't stop them from pursuing their hobby and creating their own costumes. Anyone can create an impressive costume with simple tools and a vision in mind. Gender or income doesn't matter. It's all about being proud of having created something of your own and moving forward, even if it's not perfect at times. Through their experiences as frugal cosplayers, Jury and Kerstin would like to encourage others to give it a try and not to be discouraged by small setbacks. Because in the end, it's not just about the costume, but about the fun of creating and living out your own creativity.
