Behind every good story and every polished character is research.
A topic that is so simple and so complicated at the same time, because how do you actually get good information?
For an hour, we’ll talk about online and offline research across all genres of literature, because they all have one thing in common: nothing works without research. No fantasy world can exist without it, no criminal case can be solved without it, and no city can be visited without it. Sounds pretty boring at first? True, but once you get into it, you have to be careful that you still make the jump, because very quickly you sink into a swamp of exciting information that makes you want more.
As an author of fantasy, realistic books for young people and contemporary novels, I’ve already done quite a bit of research, made quite a few contacts and had many exciting conversations. In this lecture, I will tell you how you can get your hands on top-class information, how you can assess its value for yourself, and how you can avoid getting lost in the information swamp. Of course, I will also be happy to answer your questions and have one or two anecdotes from my own research experiences in store for you.
