20. February 2020“Molly and I are cousins by marriage and Arthur’s something like my second cousin once removed.”
That’s how Sirius Black describes the bloodlines of the Purebloods. But what does that mean exactly? Who are the people in between, and are there other such relationships? Who would have thought, for example, that you could find the average person Vernon Dursley and the most unpopular headmaster of Hogwarts Phineas Nigellus Black on a family tree?
In our talk A magical family tree on MagicCon 8 we will explain the background stories, family relationships and connections between J.K. Rowling’s characters. The basis for this is a family tree with over one hundred people from the magical and Muggle world with the Black family tree as its core, extended by the Harry Potter books and Pottermore (Wizarding World). We knock the dust off the wallpaper in Grimmauldplace and try to reduce the confusion about the connections of Molly, Arthur and Sirius among others in all our heads. Maybe some more unexpected relations will come to light.
