Little jewels of fantasy films
10. January 2019Die Magie der Steinblüte
15. January 2019The stories of Scheherazade exert a very special attraction on us: Adventures in distant exotic countries with magnificent empires, brave princes, beautiful princesses, evil viziers, djinn, magicians and flying carpets were already filmed in the silent movie era with Sinbad the Sailor and still enjoy great popularity today.
In his lecture, Robert Vogel gives a retrospective of films from the Arabian Nights on MagicCon 7, focuses on the golden age of these films in the 50s and 60s, and deals especially with the ultimate classic of the genre: The Thief of Baghdad (1940)
Lecturer: Robert Vogel
Duration: 60 min - The Lecture will be held in: germanRobert Vogel is a long-time fantasy and space travel expert and writes as a freelance journalist for several genre magazines. As a "Frenzied Space Reporter" he also visits the shooting of fantastic films and series and writes "On the set reports" and interviews cast and crew.
Also in front of the camera he can be seen as an extra in some productions. Robert has been active in the fantasy scene since 1973 and has long since lost track of how many conventions he attended. Since the beginning of the new millennium he infiltrates the European Space Agency ESA and spreads the "SciFi virus". Thus the Darth Vader costume that Alexander Gerst wore at the Halloween photo shoot 2018 on the ISS came from him.
