From Tolkien film to biography and back

The opponents face each other in the ring:

“I got the sexy actors!” cries challenger Biopic and braids his teeth. Heavyweight Biopic doesn’t lose his cool. “But I know how it really was, you fake news influencer!” In this or a similar way we imagine a wrestling match between truth and film today.

In this, as always amusing, lecture, Tobias M. Eckrich from the German Tolkien Society analyses the film Tolkien (Biopic of 2019) and critically contrasts it with the real life of the professor.

What is really true about it? But what can we also look away from? What did the film depict well and what is not possible at all? With a watchful eye, actors, events, time sequences and character traits are examined.

Since 2011 Tobias M. Eckrich is the first chairman of the German Tolkien Society and a passionate Tolkienist. He has already given numerous lectures at RingCon, HobbitCon and MagicCon, the Tolkien Thing and various Tolkien Days on various topics concerning Tolkien and his works.

He is also represented internationally at Tolkien events, such as the Elf Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands, the Middle Earth Festival in Austria and Tolkien2019 in Great Britain. Tobias' program points are always characterized by a critical view and at least a wink, because the fun should not be missed out!
