MagicCon 7 | Vortrag | Nerdige Weltreise nach Mordor

Every fantasy geek’s dream is to fall into one of their favorite books. Into a world full of adventure, magical beasts and undiscovered worlds. That’s exactly what Julia and Sina set off with, along with their handkerchief and their animal companions. Their mission: to bring the one ring to Mordor. Specifically, the two traveled for 9 months across 3 continents in search of an active volcano in New Zealand. Let’s see if they are successful, because as they write this text, the two sisters are still on the road. In the process, they have discovered that traveling and nerdiness go together wonderfully and how to see the magical and fantastic in the world. After all, so many of our favorite worlds are inspired by real places and once you’ve been there, it’s not that hard to imagine meeting dragons and giants.

In their talk Nerdy trip around the world to Mordor, the two Potterheads talk about their experiences as geeks on the road. How, since leaving the safety of their Shire, they have learned to see magical creatures in the real world and how they have turned their lives into a fantasy adventure. Because nerds definitely get more out of traveling than muggles! Maybe they can also convince one or two hobbits to leave their cave and look for the dragon in the neighborhood. After all, what is life but a great “Dungeon and Dragon” campaign?

Lecturer: Typisch Ravenclaw
Duration: 60 min  -  The Lecture will be held in: german

Behind Typisch Ravenclaw are the two sisters Julia and Sina. They both developed a great love for fantasy at a very early age. They then hopelessly lost their hearts to Harry Potter. As typical Ravenclaws, they love to spend their time with in-depth research projects and extensive discussions about Harry Potter.

They have been giving talks about these projects at various conventions for several years and have also had a podcast for some time. The two have spent the past year traveling around the world. Of course, they didn't leave their nerdiness at home, but simply moved their research projects from their desks to the train.
