Fearsome weapons, impressive costumes and perfect make-up! Cosplayers are an eye-catcher at every convention. But how do you best take pictures to show the ones who stayed at home more than just a selfie?

Julian “Souly” Zechlin would like to introduce interested people to this in the workshop How to Cosplay Photography. Posing, location and image detail are actively tackled and practiced using the living example. In addition, a few tips and tricks how to create some effects in your pictures without using Photoshop magic.

But there will also be a little bit of etiquette. How do I address cosplayer/costumed or just people who look cool? What should I pay attention to when photographing groups at a convention? Behaviour when taking photos and dealing with other photographers.

This and many more will be addressed and rehearsed, so that theMagicCon will be a complete success for all hobby photographers!

Julian Zechlin aka Souly has been an amateur photographer in the cosplay scene for more than 10 years.

With an ancient digicam and without Photoshop the first conventions were contested and over the years a lot of experience has accumulated. But at some point, however, the snapshots at conventions and trade fairs were no longer sufficient and so the first private shootings were planned - anime and manga or games, movies and books.

Soulys pictures have already been published in magazines and are also very popular online. You can never get enough experience and each new shooting brings new insights. But the bottom line is that it's all about the fun of cosplay and photography.
